Industrial Natural Gas Flow Measurement and Control

FACILITY NATURAL GAS MEASUREMENT

In any industrial facility there is a concern about energy consumption. Monitoring the amount of instantaneous natural gas mass flow coming into the facility is critical to know about the natural gas demand. The classic billing meter only reports consumption for a certain period of time (monthly). While a thermal mass flow meter monitors flow quantity and consumption; therefore, it provides real-time feedback on plant nuisance conditions, peak demand, inefficiencies and wasted energy. It thus provides real-time feedback on plant nuisance conditions, peak demand address, inefficiencies and wasted energy.

Thermal mass flow meters are ideal for improving energy management and measuring gas entering the plant from the main line.

ISO50001 and ENERGY MANAGEMENT

The Plant Manager, Maintenance Manager, and operating engineer benefit from the information readily available from the gas line entering the plant. Furthermore, the newly announced ISO 50001 standards define best practice for energy management and can provide assessment in series with the billing flow meter.

GAS FLOW MEASUREMENT

Sage measures the mass flow of natural gas directly with immersion or inline flow sensors. In installation conditions where straight pipe distance is insufficient, the required straight pipe distance can be provided with a flow regulator.

The direct mass flow meter requires no separate temperature or pressure compensation, has no moving parts, is highly accurate, repeatable and has a negligible pressure offset in the process. Most importantly, Sage thermal mass flowmeters offer a resolution of 1000 : 1 resolution with at least 100 : 1 turn down ratio with 1000 : 1 resolution.

In addition to bright graphical displays of flow rate, total flow rate and gas temperature, the flowmeter has a 4 -20 mA analog signal output, pulse output and Modbus compatible RS485 RTU communication.
